A very nice habrour picture Amelia. It is a great composition. I like the swans in the foreground and the ships in the background. Well done! The swans are a great detail of the picture.

I love the combination of subjects, the impersonal harbour and the so sweet swans near the pier! Greetings from Greece, Marina

Hello Digga, the swans were being fed by a family with 2 liitle chidren and it was difficult for me to get this shot without being attacked!
Thank you for this great compliment my young friend.

Marina, I'm glad you like the combination of the animate and the inanimate. I agree - the swans were a bonus. They always are :)

Looks like supply ships for the oil industry in the background Amelia and beautiful swans in the foreground (which ones need the drill bit I wonder?)
Beautiful shot. Ciao nick
Amelia Royan, on January 27, 2009, said:
It is a very busy little port here Nick, and very deep as well. Usually the right of the harbour is reserved for tourist trippers, but we have seen a couple of mine sweepers here as well. The biggest ship I have seen was the Oceana, but I didn't have my camera. It dwarfed the whole city :)

Jean, I'm happy to be back in Norway again, even if it is only for 3 weeks or so. It is a beatiful port in Stavanger. This photo makes it look quite romantic, but it's usually busy. Sunday of course :)

Thanks Lukas, and yes I'm loving the D40 in Norway. I can't wait to get further north to the really spectacular areas. The south west though is fine for the moment - gives me time to try out the camera's potential.
Thanks so much for the Y* too. ;-)

Hello Fai - welcome to Norway ;-)
It makes quite a change from London don't you think? I was lucky with the swans, a family were feeding them. I rather suspect that they [the swans] thought I might be there to pinch their food. I'm glad you liked this photo.
Greetings, Amelia

Fantastic photo Amelia lovely contrast as well.
But after your London expirience and my PC worms/trojans and virus, we got a bit more suspicious, aren't we? So, what you and the others called swans, couldn't those be submarines in disguise? And that family so-called feeding the er.... submarines....strange.
Frank.

Wow!Delightful scenery!
Best regards!
Amelia Royan, on January 30, 2009, said:
Hello Frank - so you really mean it about a serious infiltration on your PC? I thought maybe it was a continuation of MI6
I checked out the swans, The feathers looked very realistic, so I think they were genuine. But I was a bit wary of the family feeding submarines, and gave them a wide berth :)
Greetings, Amelia
