The water level was very low, that is why it is green, or at least that is what the park warden told me. Would have to loved to see raging rapids but no such luck that day.

Very interesting and unusual color effects, Sharon, I like them very much. I have been in the Canyon many times, and have never seen the river anything but the lovely shade of green in your photo. Unfortunately the Colorado doesn't rage much anymore unless the Department of Reclamation is releasing the river in one of their "controlled floods" which is supposed to restore riparian habitats. Since they don't do it nearly often enough for it to be beneficial for habitat, you are unlikely to witness the flood. Sadly, Grand Canyon NP is about the only undammed section of river left this far down on the Colorado.

ah... this view(s) were planned for this year. Due to our son's studies we push this into 2012. We then would like to tour around of the great whole in the world :)
