I love these gates, I think I recently posted a shot of them too. That mansion is one of my favorite local places to check out. It has that great air of forgotten mystery to it.

Oops actually I guess the gates weren't one of the shots I posted, I did post a few others though. Have you ever seen the spot where the fountain used to be. It's pretty much a hole in the ground with only the plumbing equipment left.

I love these gates too. I know nothing about the place but I have to drive by it every Sunday morning and afternoon. Thanks for naming it for me! I did see the spot with the fountain. Do you know the history of the Hall? Who built it and why? I wish it was still functional...

Lynnewood hall was built around 1898 for the widener family. The family was coming up socially and had the place built by an architect named Horace Trumbaur. Eventually they sold it and the place has changed hands MANY times. Last time I looked into it(bout 2-3 years ago), it was owned by a korean presbyterian church, though they weren't using it or keeping up the grounds. But there were guard dogs. The taxes for that place are crazy and I think there's a preservation society trying to get their hands on it, before it gets destroyed. I would love to get inside that building just once. Here's a link to a website about it for more info than I can share here. http://www.lynnewoodhall.com/

Wow! Thank you so much! I read the whole of the website. It was fascinating! Amazing that it has been neglected for over 70 years....very depressing in a way. It would be a great place for a museum. Interesting that there are dogs everywhere....I have seen them and thought they were wild. Also, the windows upstairs always seem to be open. It's probably degenerated into a very large dog house.
