The Cooke City - Silver Gate area, near Yellowstone's NE Entrance, has an abundance of lovely medium-sized waterfalls. The best hiking guide to this area I have seen is "Day Hikes In Yellowstone National Park" by Robert Stone (4th edition, Day Hike Books, 2005). A link to purchase this book is HERE.

Lovely waterfall shot Bruce, it's like it's broken a hle through the face, but how can something so smooth be so powerful? Best wishes from London, Fai

Fai, great point - the setting is so craggy and tough, and the water so smooth and gentle, and yet water wins the battle! Maybe we humans can take a lesson, eh?

You are most welcome, Lukas, and I'm very glad that these photos help bring the waterfall to you and others. Waterfalls are among my very favorite features of the landscape too.

If you like waterfalls, here is a very nice Panoramio page by a man in New York who is documenting that state's waterfalls...his name is Scott Ensminger. Enjoy!

Wow...and I thought I had Montana's waterfalls thoroughly mapped...saw your shots of Sheep Creek and Woody Falls too...very well done!

Thanks, Dean! Coming from your hand, these words mean a lot, and I really appreciate them! :-) Your fall shots are quite beautiful, and I always enjoy them when I rove through your gallery.

An old favorite fall that I photographed many years ago on 35mm, and that I hope to see again this summer, is Katahdin Stream Falls in Baxter State Park, Maine. Not too big, very human-scaled, but pound-for-pound one of the loveliest falls anywhere.

Happy John Muir's Birthday :-)
