good dynamic
Nice way of giving a rather dull and ugly city (at least to my impression) a "swing"
thank you jefantenne. you're right, soton is not definitely a charming city... but it's worth to go once
To Davidegermano
Indeed worth going once... I've been there twice !
TO.JEFANTENNE & DAVIDEGERMANO,SOUTHAMPTON HAS MORE THAN 2000 YRS OF HISTORY,WAS PIVOTAL IN THE EXPANSION OF LONDON,A VITAL PORT FOR THE UK AND WORLD,A MAJOR TARGET FOR GERMAN BOMBERS,GATEWAY TO THE WORLD,WIDELY VISITED BY MILLIONS OF TOURISTS,A DEFINATE MUST SEE FOR HISTORY BUFFS,HOME OF HENRY VIII,AND A VERY PRETTY CITY.AND WHERE DO YOU TWO TWITS COME FROM?
dear kiwipom, i don't like at all what you wrote since it was not polite, but i'll be anyway polite to you and go straight to the point. nobody argue about the importance of soton in english history. i know how important it has been during years for southern england and london especially. but unfortunately the 2nd world war and the bombs left very few of what was there in the past. that made soton (and portsmouth in the same way) not really attracting from a touristic point of view. i am hopeful that you can understand and agree about this point. nobody meant to put soton in a bad light, but that's the truth about the charm of this city TODAY. that's what we were talking about. you can not absolutely compare with the past. by the way, i come from italy, i travel a lot and i know south of england pretty well. and soton especially. so i know what i'm talking about.
DEAR davidegermano,I ALSO TRAVEL A LOT AND KNOW THE SOUTH OF ENGLAND VERY WELL AND I WAS ALSO BORN THERE.JUST BECAUSE YOU TRAVEL DOES NOT MAKE YOU AN AUTHORITY ON ANY PARTICULAR CITY.YOU ARE VASTLY OUTNUMBERED CONCERNING YOUR OPINION ABOUT SOUTHAMPTON.I COULD SHOW YOU PARTS OF SOUTHAMPTON THAT ARE VERY BEAUTIFULL AND OBVIOUSLY PARTS THAT ARE NOT.AS FOR SOUTHAMPTON BEING UGLY AS YOU AGREED WITH YOUR UNINFORMED FRIEND,SHALL WE START LOOKING AT CITYS IN ITALY??? (PEOPLE IN GLASS HOUSES???)
please, kiwipom, stop being ridiculous. i say once again: we were talking about soton and both of us just wrote what he thought. nobody compared soton with any other city. and i won't compare it especially with any other italian city. that's very stupid (and you might lose, believe me). you don't agree? you are not able to discuss in a polite way on the web? that's your problem. you have already shown here who you are. writing only my name not in capitol letters confirms what kind of person you are. And now, please, stop bother me.
I clearly stated that it was my personal impression (as an occasional visitor). Impressions should not be accorded more value than what they are : impressions. I used my "impression" just to make my compliment to davide a bit stronger. I visited a lot of cities troughout Europe and I agree that it takes some time to discover what they are really like. A visit of 2 times one day certainally does NOT make me an authority on Soton... On the other hand, your (chauvinist?) reaction is well over the top. Greetings out of (a rather dull and ugly part of )an european city...
