Early on I was mainly using filters such as a skylight 1A or polarizing filter and adjusting contrast. Later I started trying a little saturation, and lately I've been taking 3 exposures and processing them with HDR software. I don't like editing so I do as little as possible, favoring automated steps like Photoshop's "Auto Contrast" option, which can really improve an image.
