Your pics have a real vibrancy to them. I suspect you are adjusting the saturation. Am I right?
Early on I was mainly using filters such as a skylight 1A or polarizing filter and adjusting contrast. Later I started trying a little saturation, and lately I've been taking 3 exposures and processing them with HDR software. I don't like editing so I do as little as possible, favoring automated steps like Photoshop's "Auto Contrast" option, which can really improve an image.
I suspected HDR. I use photoshops HDR automated script as well. But I find I'm always having to bump up the saturation after converting the hdr back to 8 bit.
Golden Gate Sailing 2 plus Golden star Y, beautiful shot.

Really is a golden view by the Golden Gate, in San Francisco Bay. Great shot. Voted...
Jim & Kelly Smith - This photo was edited in 2006 or 2007, before HDR existed (as far as I know).
