This is a photo taken from an overlook at James River State Park in Buckingham County, Virginia. The view is to the northwest focusing on the Tye River which flows down from the Blue Ridge Mountains. Notice that the color of the James River is brown while the Tye River appears to be black. This is due to the recent rain that the area received which fed more sediments into the larger river (The James) than into the smaller river (The Tye). The community to the right is called Norwood.
