Hoar Cross, Church of the Holy Angels.

Probably the most spectacular church designed by George Frederick Bodley, this unique mini cathedral stands on a hill overlooking the village of Hoar Cross and the Needwood Forest. The church is 7 miles west of Burton upon Trent. The style is Victorian Gothic Revival, combining the best of both the Decorated and Perpendicular periods. Built in 1872-75 by the Hon Emily Charlotte Meynell-Ingram as a memorial to her husband to whom she was married for only 8 years. He died as a result of a hunting accident when Master of the Meynell Hunt. The rest of her life was dedicated to improving and installing treasures into this church.
