Wow, these little finches must be so desperate. Thank goodness for kind souls as yourselves who put a little food out for them in such a harsh winter..
You must have just about fallen off your own perch when you saw these on the feeder! I think I can imagine the general commotion, to find your camera, etc, etc, don't get too close to the window, heart in your mouth,....snap, got it! Elation all round. That's how it is here anyway, and our birds are nowhere near as shy as these little things.
I think I saw one pair of gold finches in my life in England, and that was cycling along a country road with mum and dad many years ago...Well done, you two!
Love to all,
Sue

Annie got some special food for them. If you look at the feeder you will see it. It is thistle seed. They love it.
So it was deliberate to see if we could attract some.
I wish I had had a camera in the car with me today, instead of in the boot.
I got into the MPV and had the door open still.
Suddenly I had three sparrows squabbling on the dash board. They had flown in pecking nine bells out of each other and not noticing where they were.
Two cottoned on quickly and flew out again, but number three carried on, then realised the others had gone. Sat down, gulped, looked at me, panicked and flew out.
It all happens here.

Great description, Paulie, you may have missed the photo, but you painted a picture of the commotion with words instead! I particularly can imagine the sparrow gulping..:)
Love to all,
Sue
