Many thanks jethrohoyt and Luis for your kind words. The blue tit has a special place in my life. Every house I have lived in has had a bird box and every box has had a blue tit nesting. When making my first box I was told to make the hole one and one eighth inch in diameter - it seems to work!

Yes, I had heard that they needed to be certain size but never knew before today the dimensions.

My wife poked he finger in ours as a means of establishing residency only to be frightened out of her skin by a fleeing wren!

Not the thing to do in a land of snakes and deadly bugs.

The hole size stops House Sparrows and Great Tits but did not stop a bumble bee nesting for a couple of years - WARN YOUR WIFE!

What a beauty this is! The quality is so perfect he looks like he could jump out of the screen. I'm really enjoying the rest of your gallery too. Thanks for sharing! I've added you to my list of favs. Cheers, peargrin
