The footbridge carries the Thames Path over the river at this point. The Thames is rather narrower and less crowded than further downstream. This means no boats. The green areas on the river are lilypads.
Great shot Purdey
Reminders of childhood days spent along the banks of River Caldew, near Carlisle. No lily pads there, but lots of rushes, reeds and teeming with wildlife.
Thanks for the compliments trikermike. I can just about remember fishing for sticklebacks in streams and ponds around Swindon as a kid. I feel a bit sad about it now as they died after about a day. All the best, purdey
This is also the site of the aqueduct carrying the North Wilts Canal over the Thames. It was demolished shortly after abandonment of the Canal as it was insufficient to carry the flood flow of the Thames and caused flooding on the upstream side.

yeah, sad how they refused to eat the crumbled corn-flakes I fed mine, they lasted a day or so, but I think they were cold aswell.
Later on in my life, the fish I caught were somewhat larger, they died too, quick & painless, but boy! they tasted good!
best regards,
Mike
