The Colorado Plateau is all about differential erosion, so most of what you see is unstable, particularly in the spring, when freeze-thaw happens. In some of the National Parks we passed through, where roads are cut into rock, there were many rocks on the roads, and obvious evidence of recent rockslides. I would have loved to take pictures in some of these areas, but on a cold morning, it is just too dangerous once the rock starts to warm. On something like this, I wouldn't pitch my tent right at the base, but I'll certainly go play on it a little :).
