A view of Dover Grammar School for Boys (DGSB) from the school hill as it reaches the top playing field.
The 2-storey gymnasium is on the far left. On the right, a 'new' stairway structure carries the school motto of FIAT LUX ('Let There Be Light').

Hello, I am not sure about this school: but my wife Ingrid was assistant teacher for one year in Dover school in the 80ies. May also have been the girls school. She lived with the Howell family in 16 Cherry Tree Ave. Please give our best greetings to them from Feuchtwangen/Bavaria and from Uli and Ingrid.

I hope Ingrid enjoyed her time there, Metzner, and I'll pass on your greetings when the opportunity arises.

I was a pupil at DGSB from September 1962 to June/July 1967 in Frith House (Forms 1B to 5B). My first form master was Mr 'Dickie' Bird who taught French and who also ran the Combined Cadet Force (general info on the CCF). My second form master was Mr 'Dizzy' Denham who taught Mathematics.
I joined the Army section of the Combined Cadet Force and remember two summer camps to Sennybridge (Brecon Beacons, South Wales) and Dartmoor.
