I really do not know dear Philippe... but, as always, I promise to investigate!!! Maybe scientists do not even know that there is a crater :( !!! So is everyone here my friend....

I will be visiting the Vesuvius next week Toto - hopefully I won't fall into the crater ~ why is it that you think scientists don't even know there is a crater? Lovely captue though! Warmest wishes ~ Maja

The problem is not the scientists dear Maja, the problem is that the government does not fund this type of research... then many scientists migrate to other countries or work for private companies :( !!! I hope that someday they can reverse the situation... I hope...!!! For now, only went down to the bottom of the crater the curious and adventurous as I ;)!!! Take care and good luck on your visit to Vesuvius... and please do not try to descend to the bottom of the crater :))!!!
