Good grief... where on earth is this delightful missive? I'd like to pay a visit, just to be nosey.

Regards

Bob

Bob

I am just about to put the title up and have a joke with Sue Allen in Australia!

pedrocut on February 14, 2009

Bob

It aye that far from Brownhills!

pedrocut on February 14, 2009

Bob

I sent this photo to the Rambler's Association who said they would publish in their next magazine. But nowt appeared, so perhaps they did not want to offend the moneyed classes!

Splendid! Nice one Peter. I think there is a tag for signs already and this deserves a place therein. By the way, check this sign one out

Stay warm. Jethro

Hmmmm, yep, that's all very well, as long as the person who wrote it wasn't born with a silver spoon in their mouth. In that case, I would feel like loitering, littering, losing myself for as long as I could get away with--(maybe pitching a tent) and generally being as annoying as I could. Perhaps, carrying a bottle of fox scent, just to get the hounds in a frenzy too.

Of course, I would do none of these things as I am a decent, boring, law abiding citizen, but you know, this sign brings out that smear of rebellion (no longer even classed as a streak) which lays deep within me.

I have in the past, after having lots of unwanted visits from various religious parties, sales people, etc, etc, felt like putting a series of signs up my long drive way, along the lines of.....IF I DIDN'T .......INVITE YOU....TURN AROUND ....AND PEE OFF.....but I didn't even do that:) I'm such a kind and patient person, you see !

Anyway, this is such a laugh the person who made it almost has a sense of humor, but for me, there's that silver spoon element which just ruffles my feathers a 'tad'...

Thanks so much for the link, Peter, a great one for the sign tag, as Jethro pointed out!

Very best wishes to you,

Sue

Hi all, I tripped over this, laughed my sock off!, as I was listening to E.L.O 'Ticket to the Moon' - rather fitting place for this person, don't you think?

Mike

it smacks of 'new money 'to me!

trikermike on February 15, 2009

it is only slightly better than THIS DON'T YOU AGREE?

THIS ONE ACTUALLY IS PRETTY COMMON, BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY FENCES!

Jethro and Sue,

Thanks for the tip I have placed it into the sign/s tag, along with Botany Bay and Paradise Lost

I have a few others that I could upload.

I just noticed, see what it says! Exit field quicky! They can't even spell quickly with an l. Oh dear. So much for private education... :D:D:D:D:D

I suppose that I must add that the photo was taken in August 2006 and from the Public Footpath and you can see the house here. and the approach to cross the drive leading to the House here.

The owners of the House may not own the farmland but the notice gives the impression that the surveillance would be done from the House, and the vast majority of Farmers that I have come across understand the ancient rights in our Green and Pleasant Land.

Thanks, Pedrocut, I actually cycled past there yesterday. One must never underestimate the capacity of humans to act like complete a***holes the moment they think they have some superiority.

It wouldn't be so bad but for the final comment. I've seen people work themselves into the ground and barely able to survive, let alone become lords of the manor...

They should be wary of whose backsides they kick while they're up on that pedestal, they may have to kiss them on the way back down.

Best wishes

I recall the type' of persons who work hard all their lives, I was a nurse while I could work there are many other jobs that require 'hard-work' too, One wonders what type of work the original erectors of the notice undertook......senior bank management perhaps? If that is the case, we are all paying the majority of that type of persons salary !-(not to mention bonus!)

Mike,

It is a pity I did not post this photo a little earlier as BrownhillsBob recently passed by. It was 2 years ago and it would be interesting to see if the notice is still there. As I said I thought the Rambler’s Association were going to use it but they did not it seems.

If I get a chance I will return and check.

Best Wishes Peter

Sorry to hear of Brownhills Bobnot being among us any more, I am sure he's still connected to us by his soul.....

Please do not put yourself out on my account, I would just like to visit that place, as I was stationed nearby (Halton Camp) in 1965, from what I remember, the countryside is delightful.

Best wishes,

Mike b¬D from GEORDIELAND!

All,

Heh, I'm still here... I shall try and get out there in the next few weeks just to be nosey. When I do, I'll report back...

Bob

OH! DEAR ME! My sincere apologies Bob, I hadthought that pedrocut said you had recently passed by, I thought it sounded pretty terminal! I do apologise, but glad to hear you are stiil here among us-would you like me to DELETE the two messages that I got the wrong end of the stick in?

I don't mind at all, it would probably stop others from wrongly assuming the finality of it all! just say the word! /////////////////Mike

OH! DEAR ME!

Mike, I think I need lessons in PR and Communications. As a penance I will contact Haselour Media Online and ask if there are any job vacancies available! My CV should just suit them.

It seems that most of Brownhills is passing away but Bob is alive and cycling. I must on several occasions passed within a whisker of him as we have taken the same photos, sometimes only a few weeks difference.

My appologies to Mike and Bob...On second thoughts if I am to get a job with Haselour Media then sod you All!

Regards Peter

I am a spoked wheel user too!, but mine are side by side, I have no photo of mine, but THIS is the closest match on the web, just I have gold coloured allys and carbon frame * finger guards, it is so silent running that I often pass within a whiker or whisper of folk in the Mall or the street! so I am aware of the feeling....entralling, isn't it!

Don't concern your self too much! I have obviously mis-read the situation, I have offered to delete the offending missives, if Bob so wishes.

Good of you to contact me, best wishes, keep on rolling! I'll keep on pushing

Mike
