Ahhh, Las Tablas. 25,000 warm, friendly, and helpful residents will quickly charm you and take you back 200 years in time. Pace of life is slow, but still practical. They want to trust you first, be sure. But when your good intent is apparent, they treat you like a relative. Fresh seafood abounds in outdoor markets and carts daily. Lunch at local resto: bowl of soup, fish or meat entree with veggies, and a glass of fresh guava juice = $3US. How can you go wrong? Nightly entertainment: Professional baseball. More cheering than Yankee stadium during a World Series. You must see to believe. Still have energy/rum to burn off? Dance till you drop at Tripway, the local nightclub. And of course, the largest Carnivale in the country occurs here every February.
