Victor46 on January 30, 2011

Korean 747 airliner (KL007) was shot down by Soviet air force and crashed near that island.

Andrey Bogdanov on June 5, 2013

Yes, it took place.

KAL007 had over 500 km derivation of the international air route, besides, this flight had twice entered the air border of the USSR in strategically significant areas. As the second order for landing was denied, this aircraft was shot down. It’s a tragedy and not only Soviet Government or Soviet Air Force are responsible for the civil victims.

powermeerkat on June 6, 2013

Sorry, but there was no communication with an aircraft (different frequences used by the Soviets), and Osipovich admitted after USSR collapsed that he saw many lights clearly identifiying the KAL007 as a big airliner.

Btw. There is an international law which specifically prohibits shooting down civilian planes, especially airliners.

Fortunately lawless USSR is no more.

Order for landing was sent by well visible in the night sky tracer bullet fire.

Frankly speaking, such modern aircraft could not lose its course without human order which came (to my mind) down from the CIA. Funny to stipulate, this was the only Boeing 747 in modern history which has 500 km derivation of international route. Isn’t it?

Though, I can say, all of the victims of KAL007 are on the conscience of the CIA.

And what about international law in connection with Iranian Airbas A320 shot down by U.S. missiles? Sure it’s not a good idea of shooting down civil aircrafts. Sincerely,

Andrey

CIA has had as much to do with KAL007 incident as with the latest Asiana 777 crash at San Francisco Int.; namely nothing. Although decades of Soviet lies about the KAL007 obviously had their impact.
