i know this bay really well my fishing club runs that bit of the canal there are a lot of carp in that bay take sunglasses with you and you will see them.hope you enjoyed your journey and had a great day.good luck peter
Funny you should mention the fish! Could be 50 years ago that I caught a big roach on the far side at sunset with a bit of cheese!
In those days the incinerator was there and the giant rats used to come out at night; the workers used to shoot them with air guns, and so we did not hang about too long.
I also remember the small wild cats that used to chase the rats!
i didn,t know there was a incinerator there.i started my working life as a apprentice at the gec electric ave and at dinner time we used to go shooting on the canal.the good old days.all the best Roger
My mother, who is 91, worked at the GEC before the war!
it was a fantasic company to work for the kids nowadays would not hack the things we had to do there i used to work 8.00 till 4.30 monday to friday and saturday 8.00 till 1.00 for a grand total of £22.60 a week.(that was before tax)when it closed i finised my appentaship at parkinson cowan stectford.have a nice weekend roger
