Historic Lamar Building in downtown Augusta, Georgia. The Lamar Building has graced the Augusta skyline since 1913 and is one of the very few buildings to have survived the great Augusta fire of 1915. The building was named in honor of Joseph Rucker Lamar, a prominent Augusta attorney who served on both the Georgia Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.

In 1974 the unusual penthouse, designed by the noted I.M Pei Co. was added to the building. This is a disgraceful, thoughless addition. I.M Pei has been responsible for some of the world's worst monstrosities. The penthouse can not be seen in this photo. The Lamar Building is located on the north side of Broad Street between 7th and 8th streets at 753 Broad Street. View Map
