Yes, it indeed is! Wide angles are very nice sometimes.
I saw you like BW and now with the wide angle story, check the pics by Adam Welber in my favourites (I'm spamming for others now). But he makes some very nice pics (and has a 10mm lens!).
Then you'll need only one picture to catch the whole world arround you (including your own feet).
I'll have to save a lot to get one of those (with my tiny student's budget).
But with one step every time, who knows...

WELL YES A 10 MM LENS ON A DIGITAL IS WIDE BUT 12 ON FULL FRAME IS ABOUT 8 ON DIGITAL
