The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Founded in 1465 and rebuilt in 1752, it is an example of Georgian architecture and was used as the Bishop's Chapel of Ease during annual deer hunts. The village grew around this medieval chapel.

Die Kirche ist Johannes, dem Täufer gewidmet. Gegründet 1465 und 1752 wiederaufgebaut. Das Dorf, das den Namen der Kirche trägt, wurde nach und nach um die mittelalterliche Kapelle des Bischofs gebaut.

May I never even knew that there were roads across these moors, Angels fear to tread.LOL I see the Church,s clock is a wee bit out of time, I,m pretty sure it will be out of a priest as well :(. regards scally.
