St.John’s Chapel is a small quiet village with a population of about 450 people in County Durham, situated in Weardale. It was a centre for lead mining after 1600.

St.John's Chapel ist ein kleiner verträumter Weiler mit ca. 450 Einwohnern in der Grafschaft Durham am Fluss Wear. Nach 1600 war es ein Zentrum für den Bleibergbau.

Lovely Shot of a spotless Village, spoiled by the reflection of a strange foreign Lady in the P.O.s window. May be the local ghost " Lady in the Blue Cardigan" lol cheers scally

Argenna, thank you very much for your lovely Spring greetings! Best wishes, May

Thank you, Scally, the Scotsman with the eagle's eyes, lol. The ghost will remain there for ever, spoil the view and the legends will be kept awake that the 'Lady in the Blue Cardigan' came out of the moors, drawn here by a historical Scottish figure... Cheers, May

Liebe Grüsse, May

Into my old part of the world. We used to set up our tents very close to St. John's Chapel in te early 1960's, then Dad would drive off and leave the kids there for several days. He'd always come back before we were forced to eat what I could catch form the river - a good thing, since I'm allergic to fish!

One of my old classmates still lives near here.

Greetings from northern California,

Paul, thank you so much for your story! I am glad, that I went through St. John's Chapel. Whenever I pass again, I'll take some more photos of the place.

Nicolas, thanks a lot for your visit and comment! I love those charming post offices.

Warm regards to both of you, May

How I love you photos of classic, old European towns. It's like visiting myself, and seeing little things that really say something of the place like the sign over the door, and the phrase "Newsagents." It has charm.

Hank, yes, I like those places too. They give a sense of stability, having been here for so long. Thank you for visiting, May
