Hello Argenna it`s very interesting. Please Mimi and Argenna can you tell me about the tradition!!!!???

Argenna on March 5, 2009

Hello Badewanne , I tell you the story of martenitsa(Bulgarian) or martzisor(Romanian).

Martzisor is a small object off on a lanyard wove thread ,one white and one red, which appears in the tradition of Romanians and neighboring populations(Bulgarian too). Women and girls receive “martisoare” wearing during March as a sign of spring`s coming. It is offered along with flowers .

The origin of the celebration of spring and Martisor are not known exactly, but believes that it has occurred since the Roman Empire, when New Year was celebrated on the first day of spring in the month of Mars. It was not only the god of war but also of fertility and vegetation. This duality is noting in the colours of Martisor , white means peace, and red - war. New Year was celebrated on March 1 at the beginning of the century until the eighteenth century.

Archaeological research conducted in Romanian, on Schela Cladovei, have revealed the pieces of flair like Martisor, dating about 8 000 years ago. Some gravel pieces of flair were painted in white and red and were worn at the neck.

Greetings from Iasi, Romania , Argenna .
