this looks like something out of Lord of the Rings or something - quite a menacing image in a way. Graham
the district I'm living in is full of long lapsed volcanos (I'm living on the foot of one). In the Middle-Ages on every volcano was built a castle. A lot of historic things happened here.
In my hometown for example lived a court jester with very wise advisements. For his counsels to his earl my hometown got the privilege for a jerks tribunal! And every year the tribunal denounces a German politician for his delicts. Usually they are punished by paying some pailful of wine ;)
The photos show the reality and the landscape indeed looks like the scenary for "Lord of the Rings".
Many things happened here (may be as thrilling as the story of Lord of the Rings) but to write this down and to write down the aftermathes that take until now would fill more than a hundred of books.
Best wishes from the Hegau, the clime of the knights,
Thanks for that Strucki - it's very interesting and all quite unknown to me - I didn't even know there were volcanoes in Germany (I suppose i should have guessed from all the Badens) - but I love the local culture and traditions. Thanks. Graham
Excellent, Best of und Favorit!
