Hi Lm, I scanned this from the negative the other day, I remember printing this in the Darkroom & trying to hold the detail on the retaining wall, was a nightmare. Now days using the digital darkroom i've finally got the print i want!!!

Here's another thing i've noticed, the Film posts always looks much sharper then the digital posts. I'd imagine this has a lot to do with the grain in film. No matter how high res digital cameras i use, even before there posted, film is crisper! still am happy with the trade off! Glad you like this

Warmest regards & enjoy your impending trip! h

making visual order out of chaos is a skill, h, and this is a great example - very nicely visualised and produced. Graham

Hi Graham, Hope your well! Glad you like this one. It was at great find! Speaking of putting order on chaos, When i visited here, there was a valiant couple who lived here complete with a visitors book trying to restore it to it's former glory!

A Herculean task indeed!

Warmest regards from Dublin h

hello h ..yes i remember trying to 'burn in' skies in the darkroom..took ages and you came out from the darkroom at the end of the session like a creature of the night..the trade off with high res is well worth it in my view,..gives you more time to be out and enjoying the world you try to capture..

Hi Lm, test strips & contacts!!! It took ages to get a print right! Remember dreaded fixer spots appearing! The trade off been brillant! I don't think i'll ever go into a darkroom again! The best of both worlds is to be able to scan from the film neg. The degree of control now , was unthinkable then. Roll on technology, it only gets better!

Warmest regards h

Hello Hugh, Do you order the film scans at a professional lab or do you have a compact scanner at home? I have loads of films to be scanned, but I don´t want to spend a fortune... have u used any REAL GOOD compact film scanner? Great picture, by the way :)

Hi Rodrigo, Hope your very well my friend, Hope you had a good St patrick's Day! On a scanner i use a Epson perfection flatbed with neg & transparency adaptor . It's a 4180 photo model, it's a few years old now but very good. Epson scanners are a good reasonable priced options to scan your own pics. This seems to be the current range below.
