A great shot, Skyhunter, and the black-and-white-composition gives it a wonderful depth. Is anybody ringing these bells? Greetings from Baveria, Southern Germany, Michl.

I noticed that some seem to think there are too many bells, and might have preferred to just feature one, or maybe 2 of them.

Did you take this in black and white or convert it?

Sometimes, conversion, depending on certain colors, can distort black and white. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't.

However, I happen to love B & W any way I can get it.

My idea for this photo - just looking at it - reminds me of a "crowd". One needs other items similar or the same within that particular crowd. That is why sometimes, a crowd of people features one particular person who stands out.

That is the way I am looking at your photo. That this particular bell stands out from the others despite the light and shadows. If you notice, it really isn't much different than the other bells, but this particular bell is certainly the bell which stands out.

So, all in all, I like it. It's a bit unusual in its statement, and frankly, I like that type of photo.

A photo truly is in the eye of the beholder. It just depends what the beholder is actually looking for in the photo.

What I would do is to crop the single bell, and see what it looks like standing on its own. What you may have is 2 really good photos from a single photo. I do this quite frequently, and I am surprised by how many ways I look at a photo.

The picture has its potential. I do, however, miss the main subject which could have been improved by a better composition. Still a very good image, no doubt. But if you want to make it outstanding, then I would change the composition in relation to what I want to portray. Shapes? Light? Reflection? Mood?

The shadow is absence of light and only counteraction of a dense body to light beams. The shadow has the nature of a gloom, and illumination - the nature of light, one hides, another shows; and they are always unseparable and connected with a body. The shadow has greater force, than light for the shadow interferes with light and entirely deprives with light a body, and light never can absolutely expel a shadow from bodies, that is bodies dense.//Leonardo da Vinci. Beautiful Image//me.

I like it very much, I like sometimes the images in black/white with a lot of contrast and in your image you can it balance with soft grey at the wall. I like also the texture and shining at the bells. congratulations for your beautiful picture, well done :)
