Beautiful countryside Nick. I like the chink of light in the sky!

Paula K ~ Yes this was a very good place to be heading for at the end of a long day's drive. We had driven through snow showers shortly before arriving here above Ullswater before dropping down to Glenridding where we spent the night in a hotel overlooking the lake. There were some amazing cloud formations that we saw from the M6 and here we had the last of the sun before the weather closed in for the evening.

Ciao nick

Snowy mountains background to green sunny fore ground, what a extra ordinary (right word?), capture Nick. Your journey on the A route must be really scenic. You probably did not have much chance to stop & take photos 'cause of snowy/stormy journey you had!!

Regards Manoo

Magic10 (^_^) ~~ Hi there Manoo yes snowy mountains, green fields and the Ullswater lake nestling deep down between the two. The snow started again shortly after this shot was taken. WE had spent lots of time stopping up in Scotland to take shots, it was all soo very beautiful and the sun was out all morning after the earlier blizzard. If you ever get the chance Manoo scuttle up there, from Birmingham it is no great distance. All the very best to you from nick :)

You are right Nick, Ullswater (lake district) we have been many a times during summer, for Guess what? Barbecuing. great fun. Then use to ride up the hill on A592 towards Windermere, there is a pub on the way o top, where we stop for one more pint here SEE THIS. Very scenic if you have strong car.

Nick Weall on March 7, 2009

Magic10 (^_^) ~~ We have a Landrover D3 discovery Commercial van Manoo and we were up the road like a ferret up a drainpipe, so yes we know the pub at the top and we went past it this Thursday morning on our way to Windermere and beyond. You are lucky Manoo to live that much nearer than us. Ciao nick

skida on March 8, 2009

The last of the light really gives texture to that field, Nick. Been trying to work out your journey: You seem to have gone Scotland - Ullswater - Scotland, but I may be wrong. :)

Nick Weall on March 8, 2009

skida ~~ Yes sorry to mislead you Keith, we went straight up the M6 and A74M turned off left for Kilmarnock and Irvine on A71 and up north on the A78 to Gourock ~ took Ferry to Dunoon and stayed the night. Then up A815 northwards and A83 round to Inverarary ~ up the A819 to Dalmally turn right onto A85 and left onto B8074, left onto A82 through Fort William and Spean Bridge right onto A86 and Lock Laggan. Stay for 4 days then back down A9 and a few wiggles to Ullswater where we stayed for one night ~ then home. I got so excited with hte Lake District shots that I could not resist uploading one intermingled with the Scottish ones. I'll put up a whole new page of Lake District shots in a week or two. All the best to you from nick
