Believe it or not, this shot was actually planned! I had tried to get a shot with the moon and needle in it a few times, and quickly realized the only way to get a good moon exposure is at early evening or sunrise, when the brightness of the moon is much closer to the ambient brightness of the terrain. I had found a good west-facing vantage point on capital hill, and looked online to get the date right. I had to do some moving to get the Moon into position, but everything came in place just right!
