The straight-eight had not run for 14 years. I changed the oil, cleaned the spark plugs and filed the distributor points. I used a battery charger to turn the starter over and fed the carburettor some gas from a Gumout bottle. I had not made the new loom yet, only connected up a few primary ignition wires and installed new spark plug cables, of course.
The engine started on the second try after one squirt of starting fluid.
From this picture it looks like I've begun a complete overhaul of the brakes.
