In the closer view I notice the strange shape of the arch. It doesn't look to be the strongest pattern with the flat bit in the middle. It must hide some strong beams I think. A nice puzzle, Peter.

Lieben Gruss, Peter

Keith When I first saw the bridge i noticed something odd about it. It's true as you point out that it hasn't got the full arch construction as you see in old bridges.. Probably some modern concreteslab is used. I guess the bridges are from beginning of the 20th century.. Best wishes, Peter

Hello Peter this is a beautiful old bridge. Greeting Joanna

thor☼odin™ on March 15, 2009

Thank you Joanna this is a very quiet park where you actually don't expect to find traces from the past like this unless you know the history of the place. Best wishes to Germany hope springtime is felt there, Peter

Wow, what a lot of character this little bridge has, Peter.

I am sure a lot of artists have sat and painted it over the years. It may not be full arched as you and Keith say, but it is still a very quaint and colourful bridge, and you have done it great justice with your photograph!!

Cheers, Hazel
