Thanks Chris We were walking along the coastal path when we saw smoke by the bridge. There were some youths setting fire to the gorse bushes . They ran off so we waited and made sure the fire was out before we left. I remember the 1970 fire, A friend from Llanfair PG saw the flames. I think the present bridge looks better than the tubes, shame no one can see the lions though. Llion

Robert Stephenson was ahead of his time in bridge design back in 1850 - he couldn't have imagined the volume of road traffic using it now as part of the A55 route to Holyhead! I've just posted a shot of one of the lions you alluded to - shame so few people get to see them! Chris
