great shot, rob! i voted for it!

at this point in time, it looks like you will be listed in 1st place in the final results for SPC 1, unless there are several more matches posted by the other entrants before SPC 2 starts!

i will be removing all the unmatched photos from results, and also the votes by those entrants as there were a lot (10 photos and 6 still-anonymous voters). however, the only places that are affected are mine and yours. congrats!

we won't use the 'secret voting account' anymore as it is too easily misunderstood and even abused by multiple photo-posters.

cheers, brian

Hi Natalia, Thanks for stopping by. The original photo was a wider, more usual composition, which I cropped so that it better matched the contest subject of minimalism.

Hi Brian, I had noted that we voted for each other. I'd be happy and disappointed at the same time if we swapped places. But one of the points of a first trial run is to see what works and what needs changing, so even the negative aspects can be considered beneficial in a way.

Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob,

I posted this in the spc comments thread, but I'm not sure if people read it. Please let me know what if you think.

I have a suggestion. What if instead of uploading the spc entries to a dummy panoramio account we uploaded them directly to a picassa album? This way we would automatically get the option of viewing the entries in a slide show and, if I'm not mistaken, when uploading you can just click on a box to exclude exif, so that would be easier for people to cope with.

Another advantage is that a moderator (either the monthly moderator or a fixed person) can easily back up the spc album on a daily basis so that if anything goes wrong, say, a hooligan decides to have fun with the password during the entry period, then at least most of the entries will be backed up and the album can be quickly repaired.

Besides that, I can not see any shortcomings of picasa which are not already present in panoramio.

The voting would still go on in the panoramio forum, so I imagine that Wim and Rob's program would still be able to count the votes and find the winner, though probably it would not produce the page of smalls (?)

Well, just an idea, what do you guys think of it?

Hi Gil, A quick reply now to say I had seen your posting, and have been waiting for others to respond. Basically I do not see any down sides. I will post on the thread tomorrow, maybe also double check you vote counts. Cheers, Rob
