Mira :- these two side-by-side pictures are from the same tree but on different sides of the massive trunk. It is a beautiful huge specimen and each autumn when it loses its colourful outer jacket, I am there with my camera to capture the colours!!

I've had another fresh look at the bark photo's and you are perfectly right - they DO look like satellite photo's of Earth!! - Isn't that wonderful, a tree reflecting the earth's geographical features - perfect harmony where we would never have expected to look for it!
