Cool shot! what's the deal with that tunnel?

Madidi on March 18, 2009

Hi Don: this tunnel was built beneath this mountain from a neighbouring valley. The Annalong River was diverted down the tunnel into the Silent Valley Reservior to meet rising demand for water. The tunnellers set off from each side of the mountain and met two years later :-) The tunnels were drilled and blasted and when they met they were a mere two inches off centre!! Sloppy work eh!!

Great to hear from you

Hello Samo T: how are you keeping. Glad you liked this one. I knew one of the guys who worked in this tunnel and recently they allowed the men to go back into it!!

have a great weekend,
