This cedar tree from Lebanon is the most well-known of all the trees living in the extensive grounds of Kearsney Abbey near Dover.
Once its trunk (or trunks!) were simply encompassed with a chain but either continued growth or old age have resulted in the tree being fenced off.
Other trees worthy of note include the Sentinel Tree and the Red Tree.

More information, including historical details from the Norman Conquest onwards, can be found here.
From the wikipedia entry for Kearsney Village:
The River Dour flows through Kearsney from west to east to form the central lake.
Also see Connaught Park and Pencester Gardens.
