If this is tango I am King George V. It looks like fox-trot. I had never seen a couple dancing tango doing these movements. Sorry to burst your bubble but tango has been so tampered as to make it a choreographic dance for export. Mind you, some shows in Buenos Aires do the same. I don't want to sound like a tango purist but I think foreigners should know about the truth and experience both, the choreographic tango and the original, extremely sensual dance.

If you ever come to Buenos Aires I promise to do my best to treat you to an authentic tango dance floor.

Hi Draken

Maybe you're right.

They never SAID this was a tango because the show was all dancing and no talking.

But mind you: this is only a snapshot. I can't remember the moves they were making but because of the costumes and the decor, I would have guessed it to be a tango...

Did I interprete the show correctly but I seemed to me that the original tango was danced by men only?

I hope to make it to Buenos Aires one day and I'd be more than willing to be taken to an authentic tango performance.

Best regards - Hans

Hi Hans

Yes, originally tango was dance by men only. It was considered to be an indecent dance, not proper for women. I don't know when this changed but I suppose it has been perfectly documented. The aristocracy used to have dancers at their parties because it was an extravagant dance... even though it was a typical dance of their own country.

Best regards Draken
