Climbing high up towards the Kirkstone Pass we look back Northwards down the valley towards Glenridding
Climbing up the A592 towards the Kirkstone Pass it is worth looking backwards towards the North and this is the scene that will reward you.
Again there are a few little off road parking spots to park your vehicle, I expect in the summer it would be difficult to find a place to park, but in the winter no problem. This pass was closed the day before we crossed it, due to heavy snow and ice.
Hi Nick. Great picture. I never realized that the UK had such high mountains and SNOW. I don't know why I never thought there would not be snow or something other than rolling hills in England. That is why I love Google Earth and Panoramio. Thanks for sharing. Sharon
shaeurpb ~~ Hello again Sharon well UK "Mountains" are really tiny little baby things really! ~ these ones are in the range of 600 to 650 metres above sea level ~ but they are nice and cuddly. They get snow and really bad weather and they do kill people who are unprepared as a result. We have lovely rolling hills elsewhere within the UK too of course, in fact the whole Country is full of wonderful things to see:)
Joao Edgar Hi Joao ~ thank you for your compliment :)
The most friendly greetings to you both ~ Ciao nick
Hi Nick A great winter Lakes scene driven this road a few times. taking about Hills dont forget the cragy pointy ones in the scottish highlands.Regards Alan
top spotter ~ How could I ever forget the Scottish pointy bits Alan ~ I'll be going back to the Highlands again and again I suspect. No doubt we'll continue to call into the Lake District too either on the way up or the way back down. :) Glad you like this shot and that it brings back memories for you. All the very best to you from nick
top spotter ~ yes Alan and I think I've seen a few of the bits of evidence of your expeditions by way of Steve and your shots!!
steve drury ~~ It is nice to communicate with Pano members that have actually been here too Steve and Alan ~ I would agree that this is a classic subject area. I have an even better shot of this to upload next weekend (I think) This really is picture postcard Country.
As to the Paps ~ well I have found a few shots that I have showing the Paps clearly, but I would be pleased to return to capture the sight even better!! Ciao nick
Your latest uploads are fascinating of Scottish high land. This one is great, lucky that you saw a viewing spot to park your car and take this cool picture. Regards Manoo
Manoo (^_^) ~ Um dearest friend how do I gently whisper it? This is your road in the Lake District:) ~~ Yes having found my little layby (remembered from a previous trip) I crossed the road opened a gate and closed it behind me and went into the field there a little way to get the view I wanted. I'm really glad that you like the shot Manoo ~~ all the very best to you from nick
Ohhh butt, you are right and me not reading your opening commentary. Silly me, any way how can I recognise it under the snow. I think it looks stunning with or without snow. But this is more a postcard view and it is worth all the trouble to get it. Regrards Manoo
jac hendrix ~~ Thanks Jac ~ yes I'm sure it is, the only difference apart from the seasonal ones might be that there would be many more other tourists driving around in the summer!
Hi Nick, awesome location, but I got absolutely fed up with snow. It was snowing again last night. Bloody hell, can You believe this? End of march! All the best, Lukas
Nick - oooh brr-r-r-r!! I sure hope this isn't what's coming our way this winter. The autumn has arrived down south of the equator and there's a distinct nip in the western Cape's early morning air.
This photo certainly gets that chilled feeling across to the viewer, and it's a nice composition too. Hope your weather warms up well, and soon! [before we get to the UK and Ireland mid-May] )-:
Hazel Coetzee ~~ Well Hazel in this crazy mixed up World of ours ~ who knows what might happen next? You may not remember but May can be a very variable month and often frustratingly cold considering. Other times it is glorious, so let us hope that is how it is for you when you hit our shores!! Are you staying long?
Anyway back to this shot :) Glad you like it :))
all the very best to you deep down under. ciao nick
Thanks for your feedback Nick. We were lucky enough to get 2 tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show (my dream come true) during our week in London, and then we spend 4 glorious weeks (probably never to be repeated, with today's economic climate) at our son's home in a little town just outside Cork, Ireland. He needs help establishing his new small townhouse garden, and I hope we'll be able to advise him - but Chelsea should inspire us no end!!
I'M PRAYING FOR DECENT WEATHER from 18 May onwards!!!!! Please do your best to organise some, for us.
Hi my dearest one!! I was away from Pan, I got very sick and only today I feel a bit better. All because of March. Once hot, the nights cold so every body is sick! I see more shots from you! I'll look at them right away, as this one I see, they are very beautiful! Many kisses and hugs! ciao Eleni
