Llangelynin Church is among the most remote churches in Wales and is also one of the oldest, dating from C12.

In C6, St. Celynin may have set up the first religious settlement here. The church is built close to an ancient hut circle. An Iron Age fort overlooks the site from the crags of Cerrig-y-ddinas. The area is criss-crossed by roads dating from pre-Roman times.
