I will tell what I know about this picture, in 2005 a lot of pilgrims came from many places to visit a shrine cross the river because their religious leaders keep telling them its unforgivable to not visit this shrine every year whatever the circumstance are !, for a security resouns there was a chick point in the end of the bridge to search every individual person before he or she can pass, because the big numbers crowds started to push over to pass, the security guards started to shot fires in the air to stop the crowds pushing, panic spread between the crowds, they thought that there was something danger (suicide bomber attacks was common these days), people tried to escape with their life, most of the people jumped from the bridge to the river hopping to survived, 1000 people died from being drowned or being stepped down under the panicked running crowds, leaving their shoes and sandals as you see in the picture, that’s the whole story of it.
