Please read from the Help File (http://www.panoramio.com/help/#spam_comments):
We don't like spam in Panoramio at all. Spam in comments will lead to account deletion without previous notice.
Comments are considered to be Spam if they are posted: with identical or very similar content, at an excessive frequency, including links to the photos of the poster.
In Panoramio each comment automatically includes a link to the user area, therefore adding explicit links is unnecessary in most of the cases, intending to promote photos for the contest. If you want to win the contest, do not start a campaign, but just upload great photos and add them the tag "contest". Posting repeated links, specially to your own external website, also counts as spamming. You can add a link to your website in your profile page in Panoramio.com.

Hello, Jim
They are now being warned. The second phase will be the account's deletion without previous warning.
Please, don't enter the competion until you are sure spammers are gone. ;-)

Mimi, Jim, Draken ...
I see the good intention in the correspondence above, but would like to ask everyone to be careful not to be punitive in actions.
I see the need to change the "culture" of providing "links" here at Panoramio, but I think we should be asking people to change habits before threatening them with a punishment.
Yours truly, Gabor Retei

Of course, I agree entirely Gabe ;>)
It is essential to maintain a friendly interaction between us all and draconian/bureaucratic measures will not be in the interests of Panoramio.
I am certain it is a simple matter of gentle persuasion.
I hope that clears up my sentiments on the issue ;>)

Vittorio, you have very interesting web site and movies I liked a lot. I surely will be back to see all of your impressive short movies! Thanks for the link.
Andrzej thanks for your visit here.
Jim & Gabor, thanks for the conversation you did here I was away for a while and thanks for understanding!
Draken it was not needed to write this with bold! I know it very well because I took a part of the discussion about the spams here in Panoramio, and because I wished it to be clear not only for me. If I used some links to my web site till now it is because I used it like my visit card, and because I am not anonymous here in Internet like many(!), and I am not hidden behind some nick name!!! If I put some link which is bothering you, you could delete it! Well, I think I am enough well educated to respect the rules of this web site, moreover I am one of the moderators here in the forum.
More, PLEASE NOTE!, that I have never used here links like "My Contest" in Panoramio because I don't like this practice from the beginning. And if you took a look in my profile here you should know what I wrote there some time ago. I don't expect that I could win sometime here because I am not hard working for this and then why to do it?!. If people like my photos here they are free to vote and of course then I visit their pictures and I vote their pictures too, it is normal and it is right.
Just to be clear you should know that last link I put here (till some days ago, not now!)is a link to my new blog in my web site where I have to tell people one really true story that is waiting to be resolved! Have you ever felt that you should do at least one big thing in this life? I know that this story in the blog is the mission of my life and I should try to help to be resolved. But to know more only in my blog if you are interested of course.
Best wishes to all of you! :-)

I don't understand why you felt my posting was addressed exclusively to you. There are at least three other users above my first comment that were spamming. In fact it was not meant for you but It is clear now my message came home to you. Well, if the shoe fits, wear it.
The use of bold is not prohibited, or is it? What's more it is one of the options available. Mentioning my use of bold is inane to say the least.
You were using your visiting card not only in your own photos but also in every comment you posted and whether you like it or not that is spam according to the definition you can find in the Help Section (http://www.panoramio.com/help/#spam_comments).
As a moderator you should be settting the example and not twisting the rules for your own convenience.
Regarding the use of a nickname, that is something also allowed on Panoramio and it doesn't mean the people who use them are not responsible for what they do or say. **Your implication that I am hidding behind a nickname is insulting and you really should apologise.
The story in your own blog may be very touchy or heart-wrenching but you shouldn't use the wrong means to publicize it, namely spamming this website for the achievement of what you call the mission of your life. Panoramio is not designed to be a platform for projects unrelated to photography, no matter how humanitarian or lofty they are.
With regard to your question "Have you ever felt that you should do at least one big thing in this life?" please don't make assumptions: you don't know how many big things I have already done in my life but rest assured I have never gone around drumming up support in the wrong places and with the wrong means.

Draken,
Putting something under my photo it is normal that I accept it like a message to me! If you intend somebody else please visit other photos!
Yes, it is true I put links to my web site and blog till few days ago. Even I asked in discussion for Spam if the link to my web site will be accepted like a spam. But when it was clean that also this one will be accepted like a spam I stopped to do. Since this moments it was not forbidden, many people did it, did it also I. I too did not like that people send me comments like "please visit and vote my contest". But it was good for Panoramio and I was not angry with anybody.
So I don't accept your message here because it is not in the right place!
Mimi
