Marita Thanks for the comment but I do hope you realise how significant this photo is? A few years ago this tree sat in a tidal mangrove now it has been taken by the rising sea. Happy Easter Peter

I love this photograph and I completely understand the significance of it.

I travelled to Alaska in May 2008 and you can really see the effects of climate change there. In photograph after photograph you can see dead or dying trees along the shore line. I did ask a Glacier Bay Park Ranger what had caused all of this. His reply was that earthquake damage had caused some of it, changing the sea and land levels, but climate change is also having a serious effect.

We are returning to Alaska in September. I know the location of all of the photographs I took last year and will be able to directly compare the two photographs.

Thanks for sharing.

Greetings from Ontario Canada.

Steven The trouble is the changes are so subtle to our eyes we hate to admit things are really changing and very fast too, in Earth time. The last time was maybe 12000 years ago...

Respect and Honour Peter

Peter, sometimes it happens that the most sad or devastating things look beautiful on a photograph, if you ignor the context. This is such a case! The scenery looks lovely ...
