Hmmmm..... there is a woodpecker bashing away at something hanging in the tree.
But what is it? A lure perhaps for snaring daws? A bat-trap?
Actually it is a bird feeder, and I am next going to upload the photos I took on a cold but beautiful sunny day in November 2005. They are from around Draycote Water near Rugby, you may have heard of it?
It is a great expanse of water and is fantastic for birds all the year round, and especially for the winter visitors. This section is near the village of Thurlaston and the locals, or the bird enthusiasts, have placed feeders in the trees near to the water.
On this occasion we were able to see many different species, but the best was a Great Northern Diver who was feeding on small fry in the shallows. You could follow his path under the water as the fry scattered!
And thanks for the fantastic trip to the Orient!
Best Wishes Peter
Draycote water? Thurlaston? Why are those place names familiar Peter ? I may never know as one's memory cells fade proportional to hair pigmentation (and presence).
I would be happy to share my oriental trip if only I could share my jet-lag also !
I have been back a week and am still woozy!
I see it! It is one the suet feeder!
Great photo and clever idea!
Thanks for the visit, I will be over to see your gallery when I can do it justice!
I love your title & yes I spotted it but would never have done so without a heads up.
