During Biblical times, this valley was the site of Ba'al worship by the Canaanites. The Bible records that even the kings of Israel sacrificed their children here to the Ba'al and angered God. See Jeremiah 32:32-35. It's a sad part of our national History. Now the place is peaceful and surprisingly uninhabited.
