OMG - I have just looked at the enlargement of this JF - and in answer to your question I would have to say "No way". That truck driver must have nerves of steel!! How wide is the road? We have driven some hairy places in the Maritime Alps and the Dordogne, but nowhere near as bad as this :)))

Greetings, Amelia

Neither would I, but I actually took it from this viewpoint as I used to ride the school bus on a road that was very similar if not worse. If you go about 4 or 5 photos to the right on the arrows above the map you will see almost the same photo that focuses on the road itself. I was a little apprehensive about the road before driving it as all the guidebooks made it sound so bad. Other than not having a guardrail it is not so bad - actually fairly wide.

Perhaps part of it is that we were there in the off season and traffic was not bad. When we were in Norway I remember putting the tire of our little car up on the concrete guardrail to keep from being sideswiped by a car in the other lane who was afraid of hitting the mountain. My husband who was sitting in the passenger side still tells of his terror at seeing the fjord far below.

JF, no way. I agree with Amelia. This is a terrible looking road. I wouldn't even like to walk this place. Just call me scaredy-cat.

Jean, While I would not want to drive a semi anywhere near it, it really is not any worse than US64E out of Franklin. My shot just shows dramatically how deep the drop is.
