This was actually a Ukrainian Catholic tserkva. My grandfather, Wasyl Kowal attended this church with his ancestors before he came to the United States in the early 1900s. Grampa Kowal was a Boyko, a very small minority within the Ukrainain race, and this church is classical three-domed Boyko sacred architecture.
Interestingly, the landscape here is very similar to the Ossippe and White Mountains in New Hampshire USA. I had been drawn to those mountain when I was only a little girl and my parents took us up there to vacation. Now my husband and I have a cabin up there.
