Two Steers by John Kearney, also called Bumper Bulls, 2 life-size bulls made of vehicle bumpers, Kansas Coliseum, Wichita,KS

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

“Two Steers” was sculpted by John Kearney in the late 1970s and had stood outside the Coliseum since 1978. The coliseum closed in 2011. One of the “Two Steers” that had faced off for decades in front of the Kansas Coliseum has gone solo at his new home at Maize South High School. The chrome bull, all shiny and restored by volunteers, was dedicated before the school’s first home football game of the 2012 season. The other half of the sculpture is in the hands of the city of Wichita and will be placed in Delano Park at Douglas and McLean, when its restoration is finished. The placement in Delano Park will be to mark its place in history as the end of the Chisholm Trail.
