All your decorated egg pictures are good & a pleasure to examine, Art, but this is my favourite, better balance and subtle depth. Theolfa

I am glad you like this one Theolfa as it is my favorite too. It also links the eggs to the Quince bush that I have been featuring as it grew from bare twigs with buds to full bloom. Soon all the flowers will be gone or hidden by leaves as the fruit begin to form. The bush is always in its full glory on Easter so that too is a good reason for the eggs to be featured against it. Best regards. -Art

Emerson, My Wife and I have been decorating a tree with Easter Eggs since we were married ~40 years ago. I don't know if it is a tradition everyone does like decorating a Christmas tree but did it and this prompted my collecting decorated eggs that can be hung. I limited the eggs to ones that resembled Theolfa's Ukrainian egg, but I still have two more dozen eggs that my wife and I decorated sitting in a cupboard. The eggs are shell only, as I removed the contents before they were decorated. Best regards. -Art

Just got back from London, off to Norway tomorrow - so this is my one and only comment for another few days Art. I love this tradition - and the eggs. My Dad used to paint beautiful eggs after they were had been hard boiled. On Easter Sunday we rolled them down hills until all his beautiful paintings had cracked, then we peeled and ate them. It was symbolic of the stone rolling away from the tomb of Jesus.

No chocolate eggs in those days :)))

So I haven't replied to any comments either - I hope everyone understands why.

Greetings, Amelia

I am honored to be your one and only comment for Friday, April 24, 2009, Amelia! But, I can see how tradition is important to you and how our little egg tree helped bring back memories of your dad. God speed on your trip to Norge. Best regards. -Art

Your eggs are like small arts! I saw something like this people are doing in Germany also. In my native country people ar used to color eggs too but then you eat them also. You can take a look at my Easter Eggs here or to look in my web site too. The address you will find in my profile here.

Thanks. Except for one of these eggs, all of them were purchased from an artistic boutique in my town. I believe they were made in Ukraine. I made the one in the bottom foreground with the red flowers on a yellow field above blue stems and leaves. My wife and I hung them on the branches of a dead house plant whose stems we painted white, we made it our own tradition not knowing if such a tradition existed anywhere.
