Are this its eyes on stilts?

Sue Allen on April 27, 2009

Greetings from Australia, Erol Asrak

Yes, they are eye stalks, Norrel. There are some antennae there as well, (you see the smooth bits dangling down) and then its cheliped which are its pincers, and walking legs. They have 10 jointed legs in all, but the back ones are tiny and just stay in the shell.

Interesting little thing, isn't it?

cheers, Sue

Wow, excellent! You must have a steady hand, great macro!

Sue Allen on April 29, 2009

Noprize, I think the hand holding the crab and the hand holding the camera were probably just wobbling in sync, but it's lovely of you to leave this great message, - thank you!

Kind regards to you,

Sue

Such a marvelous macro! Interesting creature and I think this is the best photo I have ever seen of a hermit crab. How did you fool him into thinking he was alone?

lol@"wobbling in sync". Great phrase, Sue.

HOOOORAY!!!!!! It's so good to see that SOMEONE is coming back out of their shell! :D Great to see new comments from you Sue. We've been forced to rely solely on Guy for most of our laughs for these past few months, so we're all REALLY glad to hear you might be giving us a break from that, lolol!

Sue Allen on September 13, 2009

Oh, you poor poor things, Kamaly, having to rely on that fella from Masset for a giggle! How utterly terrible! Well, I shall keep my pincers firmly out in the fresh air for as long as possible, at least until the bags under my eyes reach ground zero or my knees, which ever comes first!

Talking of which, I'd better hit the sack, as I was going to do about an hour ago. So lovely to hear from you, bless your heart, it's like seeing an old friend!

Very best wishes to you

Sue

Hey! I heard that!

Sue Allen on September 13, 2009

Tee hee, glad to know that your hearing is still working in old age, Guy! Hope you're very very well?

Very best wishes to you as always, Sue

Here is a tip for you all!! The hermit crab, always reluctant to leave the safety of his home, can be persuaded to flit with alarming haste by the application of fierce heat on the pointy bit!!

Just thought you should know that!!

(Whistles nonchalantly whilst impatiently tapping right fingers on table top)

Ouch!!!

sue_de_nym on September 18, 2009

I know who you are! I thought to myself, how could there be two such cheeky personages on Panoramio, and no, lo, you are one and the same, none other than the amazing Jim, otherwise known as the acroBAT, never mind acroNYM!

Ha ha, you didn't know I had this account ready and waiting, did you Jim, m'lad?

sue_de_nym on September 18, 2009

sue_de_nym and ACRONYM -- what a team!!!!!

Bits-n-Pieces on September 18, 2009

a Team - no, I believe they are more likely distant cousins - Mr. Ac Ro Nym and his French cousin Mme. Susanne de Nym !

Sue Allen on September 18, 2009

What, 'moi'? Never, surely?

gnarlysurferdude on September 18, 2009

ACRONYM, and sue_de_nym, definitely a team!

Bits-n-Pieces on September 18, 2009

Ac and Sue, I believe I've met your pet Ally!

or maybe that's Anna's pet.
