These heroes of The Greatest Generation helped Franklin Roosevelt save the world for Democracy. At Bushnell General Hospital from 1942 to 1947 they put their lives back together after losing one or more limbs. Part of the therapy was to learn how to use their prostheses to drive a car, do gardening, craftwork and everyday tasks before they returned to their homes.

A good film to see is: "The Best Years of Our Lives"

I can't believe I found this photo online. I have one from my Dad & there are some names on the back. My Dad is the 2nd man standing. John Gilbert Winner. His left arm was amputated below the elbow. He was one hell of an artist. Do you have any information on him? Thank You Kathleen Geyer (Winner)
